About GoMedia Canada Marketplace Toronto, ON August 22nd to 26th 2010 GoMedia Canada 2010—the place where stories are born. Save the date! (Aug. 22nd to 26th, 2010) Let’s face it: there’s no way to sum up a country as diverse and vast as Canada. How do you sound bite the world’s second-largest country? You don’t. The best way to taste the True North is piece by distinctive piece. So this year, we’re giving you our Big Apple—Toronto, ON. See for yourself Canada’s economic engine, the capital of Ontario; a city so multicultural, you’ll catch one of 140 languages and dialects spoken on the streets of this buzzing metropolis (5.5 million in the Greater Toronto Area). Join us, the Canadian Tourism Commission, at our 2010 GoMedia Canada Marketplace! This is our not-to-be-missed yearly media shindig where Canadian travel organizations get their chance to tell Canadian and international journalists—one-on-one—about Canada. Media take away the best new Canadian travel stories. Everyone leaves with a collection of fun adventures and a journal brimming with new contacts. For the first time ever, we’re hosting you in “T.O.”—at the Fairmont Royal York set in the entertainment district—and trying new elements to the show plus enhancing our professional development seminars. We’ll give you a media panel, social media updates and an amazing selection of pre and post tours and a diverse offering of local tours on big urban: that is, hitting the town, strolling the neighborhoods and getting a feel for what makes T.O. tick. Here’s a peek at what you’ll find in Toronto (that’s “Trannah” in local-speak): vibrant neighborhoods , each with its own personality; you can also experience the highest highs at the CN tower, the world’s tallest; and the lows in the Underground City with over 1,200 stores and restaurants beneath the downtown core. Major galleries and museums have recently reopened after signature additions by Gehry and Libeskind with more to come in 2010 with the new permanent home of the Toronto International Film Festival (that GoMedia delegates will be among the first one to see). In around town find Canada’s hottest restaurants and shops, a fresh crop of farmers’ markets, lakeside beaches, plenty of al fresco cafés to enjoy “patio season”. Step outside Toronto and discover nearby Ontario’s “vine country,” where we grow award-winning vintages and our famed ice wine, the legendary Niagara Falls, Ottawa the Nation’s Capital and much more… This year, we meet in Toronto, ON, from August 22nd to 26th. Building on success of last year’s gathering in Whistler, BC, the marketplace brings 125 top media from Canada and abroad to meet with Canada’s tourism industry. We will soon invite media to submit an application form and we’ll ask the media to share their most recent published articles. Our advisory committee will review applications, then we’ll send you a confirmation letter by March 2010. Application process begins: January 19, 2010 Deadline: February 12, 2010 Registration begins: March 15, 2010 (Canadian Media) Registration ends: March 26, 2010 (Canadian Media) The CTC’s premier international media event, GoMedia Canada Marketplace always sells out, so don’t miss your chance.
